Since 1969, the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) has served as our nation’s fundamental environmental statute. In a dramatically cynical proposal, Representative Richard Pombo (R-CA) has introduced H.R. 4513, which would exempt a large class of energy projects from complying with NEPA’s core functions, under the guise of supporting “renewable energy.” American Rivers strongly supports increased development of solar, wind, and emerging clean energy technologies but not at the expense of our nation’s landmark environmental law. VOTE NO ON HR 4513
